How We Work with the Trade

Interior designers know the importance of including custom pieces in their clients’ homes to make them unique and engaging and also to work within a space that may be challenging to decorate due to size or architectural details. Sometimes these challenges come in when dressing the windows of a home, especially in older ones—odd sizes, curved walls, banks of French doors, and the like. Many designers have successfully used Wovn Home’s trade program to customize window treatments for their clients as highlighted below.

Wovn will continue to be a company I return to again and again for client projects, and I look forward to exploring customization options using COM within the trade program.” - Erica Deputy of New Home Old Soul.

The Wovn Home Experience

Boston-based designer Lisa Kreiling of LTK Interiors was faced with curved walls in a five story Boston townhouse for which she needed custom hardware.  Wovn created the templates needed to make hardware to match the curve of the wall and exact dimensions. The French return rods were crafted in a 7/8-inch diameter instead of our usual 1 ¼-inch size for a sleeker look.  For the project, Lisa wanted multiple Roman shades, panels for bedrooms, café curtains for a bathroom, and ruched door curtains. Lisa used a combination of Wovn's classic Belgian linens and COM.

“It was a breeze working with Wovn. The measuring and installation were extremely personal and simple,” Lisa says. “The turnaround was great considering the supply chain issues right now, and the window treatments look incredible! It was also easy to install with Davina and the installer because they were very attentive to the project’s needs,” she adds.

In order to address French doors in a project, Maryland designer Kasey Bedford of Winsome Interior Design turned to Wovn for custom work and is using them again to create a wall to wall, floor-to-ceiling treatment to place behind the headboard in a bedroom.

“The experience was great—quick and easy with a short turnaround time; great quality and no issues with installation,” says Kasey. “We love that Wovn offers COM, but the company is also our go-to source when the client’s budget does not allow for fully custom window treatments because choosing a fabric from Wovn is typically better priced than COM, and we love their in house fabrics—beautiful with great color choices.”

An Upper West Side co-op apartment in Manhattan with Peter Pennoyer Architects called for custom hardware and COM fabrics and trims.  For the nursery, Wovn fabricated blackout Roman shades with Samuel & Sons grosgrain ribbon trim in a Greek key design. The firm engaged Wovn for on site measurement and installation, so it was truly a turnkey experience. Wovn Home is working with PPA again on a Brownstone project in Brooklyn, where they are fabricating all the window treatments for the home including scalloped edge Roman shades with lip cording details.

Erica Deputy of New House Old Soul initially used Wovn for drapes in her daughter’s bedroom and café curtains in the dining room of her home in Northern Virginia.

“The ease of working with Wovn for personal projects led me to specify Wovn's striped oyster linen for floor-to-ceiling drapes in a current client's living room project,” says Erica. “I started my interiors business at the beginning of the pandemic when finding a workroom seemed challenging. Wovn filled a need for custom, quality window coverings with virtual support for measuring and a curated selection of in-house fabrics that don't overwhelm.”

In addition to interior designers, Wovn works with commercial clients and is currently creating charming sink skirts and shirred table skirts in COM silk fabric for the Temple Studios showroom in NYC. “We also fabricate the window treatments and dressing room drapes for Jenni Kayne stores across the country,” says Davina. Recently, for their new Amagansett, Connecticut and Boston stores, Wovn created ripplefold panels in their Ivory linen and lined them in the same fabric for a beautiful textured look on both sides. “We love doing custom work,” says Davina. “Pleasing our clients and meeting their specific needs is what Wovn is all about.”
